Affine 3-D Reconstruction from Two Projective Images of Independently Translating Planes

چکیده
Consider two views of a multi-body scene consisting of k planar bodies moving in pure translation one relative to the other. We show that the fundamental matrices, one per body, live in a 3-dimensional subspace, which when represented as a step-3 extensor is the common transversal on the collection of extensors defined by the homography matrices H1; :::; Hk of the moving planes. We show that as much as five bodies are necessary for recovering the common transversal from the homography matrices, from which we show how to recover the fundamental matrices and the affine calibration between the two cameras.

Affine Stereo Calibration for Relative Affine Shape Reconstruction
It has been shown that relative projective shape, determined up to an unknown projective transformation, with respect to 5 reference points can be obtained from point-to-point correspondences of a pair of images; Affine shape up to an unknown affine transformation with respect to 4 points can be obtained from parallel projection. We show in this paper that afTine shape with respect to 4 referen...
متن کاملAffine Structure from Translational Motion in Image Sequences
In this paper a method for obtaining affine structure from an image sequence taken by a translating camera with constant intrinsic parameters is presented. A general geometric constraint, expressed using the camera matrices, is derived and this constraint is used in a least squares solution of the problem. The first step is to obtain a projective reconstruction, in the form of a sequence of cam...
متن کاملThe impossibility of affine reconstruction from perspective image pairs obtained by a translating camera with varying parameters
Contrary to the claim in the literature that the affine reconstruction is possible from two images captured by a translating camera with unknown and varying parameters, we show that such a reconstruction is in fact impossible. In other words, the knowledge that “ the camera’s motion between the two images is just a pure translation” is an insufficient piece of information for affine reconstruct...
متن کاملCollinearity-preserving functions between Desarguesian planes.
Using concepts from valuation theory, we obtain a characterization of all collinearity-preserving functions from one affine or projective Desarguesian plane into another. The case in which the planes are projective and the range contains a quadrangle has been treated previously in the literature. Our results permit one or both planes to be affine and include cases in which the range contains a ...
متن کاملA novel 3D planar object reconstruction from multiple uncalibrated images using the plane-induced homographies
A computer vision method is proposed to determine all the visible 3D planar surfaces in a scene from uncalibrated images and locate them in a single 3D projective space. Most of the existing methods for reconstructing planar objects use point correspondences to estimate the fundamental matrix and derive the compatible projection equations, before they apply the standard triangulation technique ...
